David’s areas of practice include Planning and Environmental Law, Residential Conveyancing, Family Settlements, Probate, Wills and Estate Planning, and the specialised area of dealing with the legal affairs of the elderly and vulnerable. David has advised clients in all areas of Planning Applications, Exempted Developments, Objections and Appeals. He has represented clients at An Bord Pleanála Oral Hearings and at all stages of CPO matters including negotiations and arbitrations. He has been involved in a number of successful Judicial Review applications in relation to planning matters. He has also advised clients on whom Warning Notices, Enforcement Proceedings and Derelict Site Notices have been served.
David has acted for private clients in all areas of Residential Conveyancing, including principal private residence/ investment properties/ apartment purchases and sales. In addition he has advised Farmers in relation to settling their farms, selling milk quotas, leasing their lands and the tax and stamp duty implications of same. David has tutored Trainee Solicitors attending the Law Schools in both Dublin and Cork in relation to Probate and the Administration of Estates. David is a co-founder and committee member of Solicitors for the Elderly Ireland, an independent national association of solicitors and barristers concerned with improving the availability and delivery of specialist legal advice to older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. Outside of work, David has a strong interest and involvement in community matters. David was appointed to the first Board of Directors of Clare Youth Services Limited and is the current Chairperson of the Board of Management of Ennis National School having previously served as the parents’ representative on the Board. He is active in training hurling and football to underage boys and girls and is proud to have received a People of The Year Award from Ennis Parish in 2008.
A coffee connoisseur, David enjoys listening to music and attending his children’s numerous sporting activities in his spare time.
